PHYSICAL PROTECTION
STORM SHIELD offers the maximum level of protection from hurricanes, wind borne debris, and strong winds. The latest building codes and insurance regulations require the use of tough new shutter systems capable of withstanding a number of rigorous laboratory testing procedures. For example, a shutter system must be strong enough to stand up to an eight foot long 2 x 4 stud (9 lbs.) being fired at it from a cannon at speeds up to 50 feet per second.

In tests conducted by an independent testing lab, STORM SHIELD panels exceeded 150% of that requirement. Millions of dollars have been spent on storm protection systems since Hurricane Andrew . . . unfortunately, many will have to be replaced with approved certified products. Be certain the shutter system you invest in today, will be legal tomorrow. You have that assurance with STORM SHIELD.

  SECURITY
STORM SHIELD Hurricane Barriers do more than just protect your property from hurricane's severe storms and flying debris. They also act as a security barrier, deterring criminal intruders and rock throwing vandals. In some cases the cost of the system can be justified in glass breakage savings alone.

STORM SHIELD's optional security egress latch (SEO) doubles your protection. With SEO the STORM SHIELD system becomes an easily egressable security screen, as well as, a hurricane shutter. SEO units open with a one point release mechanism for quick exits in an emergency situation.

STORM SHIELD Hurricane Barriers protect window openings from Pass Thru of weapons and illegal drugs. Increased scrutiny at entrances must be combined with window security in order to be effective. Insure occupant safety with STORM SHIELD.

      SUN CONTROL

EXETER contracted a nationally known, independent testing laboratory to determine the shading coefficient of STORM SHIELD Hurricane Barriers and the effect installation would have on solar heat gain. Testing determined the shading coefficient of STORM SHIELD to be .51. (Shading coefficient represents the percentage of solar heat gain that is transmitted to the interior of a structure through the glass and shading system. Shading coefficient for clear glass is 1.) Installing STORM SHIELD Hurricane Barriers reduces solar heat gain by almost 50%. Reducing the solar heat gain is a practical method for saving energy.
