Unlike conventional Bahama shutters, STORM SHIELD's Bahama shutter design allows a high ratio of light transmittance. The unit quickly retracts and locks into place with four easy push pins. This in-place shutter is also a practical system for multi-story properties.

A Brighter Take on the Bahama Shutter

Traditional Bahama shutters are louvered or solid panels hinged at the top and propped open at an angle. They give a familiar island look and provide shade, but when they are closed for a storm the room behind them goes dark. The STORM SHIELD Bahama Mount uses the same perforated InvisiPerf™ barrier as the rest of the product line, so the shutter keeps letting in daylight and views whether it is propped open as an awning or closed and pinned for a hurricane.

Storm Preparation

When a storm is forecast, the barrier is lowered from its open, angled position, set against the opening and secured with four stainless steel push pins. Per code, the barrier must be in place, in the closed position and pinned during a hurricane warning period. Because nothing has to be carried, stored or lifted into place, preparation time is short even on upper floors that can be reached from inside.

Bahama Mount is popular for coastal homes, condominiums and resort buildings where owners want shade on sunny elevations and fast closing before storms.
