One Family of Perforated Metal Barriers
Every Exeter product grows from the same idea: a heavy-duty perforated metal panel in a strong extruded aluminum frame can protect a building while still letting people see out. The company's first product, the CRIME SHIELD security barrier, was the first in the industry to combine heavy-duty perforated metal with reinforced aluminum framing, hinges and quick release locking mechanisms. Its patented design won a silver medal from the Industrial Design Society of America and Business Week magazine in 1992.
After Hurricane Andrew, Exeter refined that design into STORM SHIELD Hurricane Barriers, which add the impact and wind pressure performance needed for hurricane protection. SECURITY SHIELD window barriers focus on protecting buildings against forced entry and other security threats.
Because the products share a design approach, many buildings use them together: hurricane barriers on storm-exposed elevations, security barriers on ground-floor or sensitive openings, and hurricane doors at entrances.
