InvisiPerf See-Thru Technology

STORM SHIELD – Exeter's revolutionary concept in shutter protection – offers a heavy duty perforated metal barrier. Our InvisiPerf® pattern provides optimum light penetration and airflow as well as unobstructed views from either side. Narrow and equal sight lines offer a shutter system that enhances the architectural aesthetics of your property.

How InvisiPerf® Works

STORM SHIELD's InvisiPerf® barrier system is designed for maximum occupant comfort. Intensive research studies in visual perception enabled Exeter to develop a unique patented system that features a tough, heavy duty perforated metal barrier that protects your property without obstructing your views.

The idea is simple but carefully engineered. When you look through a fine, evenly spaced perforated screen from the darker side toward a bright scene, your eye focuses past the metal and the view comes through clearly – the same effect you notice when looking out through an ordinary insect screen. InvisiPerf® applies that effect to heavy 14 gauge steel or 300 series stainless steel. The pattern has a 51% open area, so roughly half of the panel is open to light and air, while the solid half provides the strength to stop wind-borne debris.

A Room With a View

The photos below are of a cafeteria at a major Miami medical center and a coastal residence in Stuart, Florida. STORM SHIELD's "invisibility" allows each room to stay light, airy and comfortable. STORM SHIELD also acts as an energy saving device by reflecting 50% of the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays and diminishing unwanted solar heat gain. Select a picture to view an enlarged version.

Historical Use Approved

STORM SHIELD is engineered for multi-performance – a value added shutter that offers the ultimate in severe weather protection that you can see thru, without compromising aesthetics. Our unique shutters were recognized and approved for use by the following entities:

  • Historical Review Boards of Dade County, Florida
  • State of Florida
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

Because the barriers read as screens rather than solid panels, they are often acceptable on buildings where preserving the original appearance matters. Learn more in hurricane shutters for historic buildings, or see how the same pattern reduces heat gain in the sun control study.
